Through this quiet practice, participants connect intimately with nature.
Journals can be personal or scientific, detailed, and true to life, or sketchy reminders of daily observations. They
become treasured records of days spent in the garden or in the native landscape. Each class begins with instruction and demonstration in the studio followed by independent work in the gardens.
Participants will provide their own sketchbook and drawing utensils from a suggested material list provided by instructor.
This workshop is for three sessions on Wednesdays
July 27, August 3, August 17
Cost for three, 2-hour classes: $60, $45-Stonecrop members

In a not-so-distant future where the grid has failed, society has crumbled, and memories can no longer be stored on hard drives, a group of survivors come together to recreate their vanished world through the life-affirming act of telling stories under the stars. A love letter to live theater, and a hymn of survival and resilience (sung by America’s unlikeliest hero, Bart Simpson!), Mr. Burns is an exhilarating exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.

Grab a picnic and a glass of wine, stake out your spot on the Great Lawn, and start your weekend off with a free, thrilling, behind-the-scenes exploration with HVSF artists, scholars, and industry experts. These pre-show talks take place every Thursday night during the summer season and are open to the public. In case of inclement weather, Prologues are held under the HVSF Theater Tent.
This most-familiar story is seen through a new lens as Director Gaye Taylor Upchurch brings us a bold take on the iconic, boisterous, poetic and above all, romantic tale of star-crossed lovers. With HVSF’s favorite longtime couple, Kurt Rhoads and Nance Williamson cast in the title roles, this revelatory age-blind production reminds us that, while youth may be only skin-deep, true beauty is a quality of the soul, and – in the end – love conquers all.
