Pay Dirt, a new play by Putnam Theatre Alliance. Sneak Peek at the PHM.

Experience Hudson Valley land ownership in the tumultuous years between the French & Indian War and the American Revolution.

On Sunday, October 23rd, at 3 pm, please join us at the museum for a sneak peek of the Putnam Theatre Allianceā€™s upcoming production, Pay Dirt, featuring three one-act plays related to land struggles in the Hudson Valley during the Colonial Contact period (1600s to 1770s).

The Putnam Theatre Alliance, which includes Arts on the Lake, the Philipstown Depot Theatre, and Tompkins Corners Cultural Center, has commissioned three award winning playwrights – Vickie Ramirez, Kate Moira Ryan, and Nan-Lynn Nelson – to each write a piece about the struggle for land in the Hudson Valley in the tumultuous years between the French & Indian War and the American Revolution.

Vickie Ramirez will write from the perspective of Wappinger Chief Daniel Ninham. Kate Moira Ryan will take on Dutch heiress Mary Philipse Morris. Nan-Lynn Nelson will get inside Caesar, the enslaved miller to the Philipse family.

On Sunday, October 23rd, program attendees will have the chance to hear short selections from each one-act. Staff and volunteers from the Putnam Theatre Alliance and the Putnam History Museum will lead a lively discussion with attendees.

The first full public readings of these one-acts will take place at Arts on the Lake, the Philipstown Depot Theatre, and Tompkins Corners Cultural Center on November 4th, 5th, and 6th.

In 2023, the Putnam Theatre Alliance will weave the pieces together into one epic play. Three writers, three bold protagonists, three unique perspectives, one big journey.
